Trouble at T’Mill – Worsbrough Needs Your Help

24th September 2024

In 2025, Worsbrough Mill is celebrating 400 illustrious years of milling using water power from the River Dove. This 240-acre country park and reservoir is a slice of paradise for nature lovers, with birdwatchers, anglers and over 250,000 fresh air enthusiasts flocking here every year to soak up the stunning views.

As one of only a handful of working mills in Yorkshire, Worsbrough Mill grinds about 16 tons of grain each tear, keeping local bakeries and artisan bread makers powered by flour.

But that’s where the good news currently ends! Our beloved mill is in need of urgent repair to the main upright oak shaft which can only be installed by specialists. Without this, the mill will remain idle and silent, with flout production ground to a halt.

We are looking to the generosity of the people of Barnsley and beyond to help achieve the £40,000 required to repair the shaft and save the mill.

If each of the 250,000 visitors to the mill contributed just 40p – not even the price of a bag of crisps – we would smash this target. Or just £5 from 8,000 people, which is 5% of the population of Barnsley.

By giving just a small amount (or a large one if you wish!) you can help save our precious mill for generations to come.
