Voices Blooming at Wentworth Castle Gardens
8th May 2025
10th May 2025 11.30am – 2.30pm
As the gardens bloom into colour, enjoy uplifting music from community choirs during your visit to Wentworth Castle Gardens.
Following on from last year’s successful event, community choirs will be coming together to celebrate the hopeful blossoms of spring in some of the most beautiful spots in the garden.
This year will feature three different local choirs:
Uplift Choir brings together people of different ages who have varying life experiences and conditions, promoting better mental health through singing together.
Body of Sound is a women’s singing group based in Sheffield, who have been singing together for 28 years (longer than their youngest members!)
Feels Like Home are a community group for people new to Barnsley where English isn’t their first language. The group love to sing and as part of this project, wrote a song about the universality of nature, which symbolises healing and grounding.
The groups will be singing in different segments of the Union Jack Gardens between 11.30 and 2.30pm. Look out for signs taking you to the performance spaces or just follow the sound of singing!
If the weather is wet, choirs will be based in the Conservatory.
This event is part of the Festival of Blossom, a shared annual celebration of the joy of nature for and by everyone, everywhere. It will be delivered in partnership with Barnsley Museums.
Festival of Blossom is supported by the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The event is free, but normal admission charges apply.
