Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust launches the Bookshop Buddy initiative at Cannon Hall Museum

Tucked away in the beautiful Walled Garden at Cannon Hall Museum, our Pre-Loved Bookshop gives donated books a second life while raising valuable funds to support Barnsley’s museums, heritage and local communities. The bookshop currently raises around £4,500 each year, helping to fund family learning, community volunteering, educational and wellbeing activities, and the ongoing care of Cannon Hall Museum, Park and Gardens.

We are looking to build relationships with local companies that share our commitment to community engagement, sustainability and making a positive difference across Barnsley and South Yorkshire.

Becoming a Bookshop Buddy is simple, with several ways your company and team could get involved:

• Workplace book donation box: Encourage colleagues to donate books they no longer need.
• Team book collection: Organise a one-off or regular book drive.
• Running a friendly workplace challenge to encourage employee participation.
• Local donation point: Offer your premises as a convenient place for people to drop off books.

It’s a practical, low-cost way to support a local charity, demonstrate your companies commitment to corporate social responsibility, encourage employee participation and help unwanted books find new homes.
