Creative and digital industries expert joins board of trustees

14th December 2017

We are delighted to announce that Tracey Johnson, project manager at Barnsley’s Digital Media Centre, has joined Barnsley Museums & Heritage Trust as a trustee.

Tracey is a creative and digital business strategist, project director and founder with many years of experience in the creative and digital industries. She leads the Digital Media Centre in Barnsley which is home to over 50 businesses, and is also part of the award-winning Enterprising Barnsley business growth team at Barnsley Council.

Tracey has worked with Elsecar Heritage Centre as co-founder of Hive Gallery, a contemporary art gallery which was based there until 2011.

She said: “I’m delighted to join a charity which is doing great work to secure the future of Barnsley’s museums.

“I’m hoping my background in the digital and creative sector will help the trust reach out to new audiences and inspire them to learn more about Barnsley’s heritage and treasure it for years to come.”

Chair of Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust, Margot Walker, said: “We’d like to extend our warmest welcome to Tracey as she joins as a trustee of the charity.

“Our trustees are local people who champion Barnsley and make a real difference in the community. Not only is Tracey a great ambassador for the business community in the town, but she will also bring a wealth of digital and project management skills to the role.

“Tracey has already proved a great asset to the board by helping us to hone a crowdfunding campaign idea and we’re really excited to see how this project progresses under her leadership.”

Barnsley Museums & Heritage Trust is a fundraising charity founded in 2015 to help preserve, enhance and champion the borough’s heritage for the future. For more information about the trust, or to make a donation visit: https://bmht.org/
