Fusion’s Festival of Joy Arts Award Celebration Event

Schools from across the borough came together for an inspiring night celebrating Fusion’s Arts Award Explore Programme at Horizon Community College.
As part of Fusion’s Festival of Joy, close to 300 children completed their Arts Award journey thanks to support from Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust, Arts Council England, Barnsley Council and Barnsley Schools Alliance. Birkwood Primary School, Carlton Primary School, Dodworth St John the Baptist Church of England Primary School, Hoyland Common Primary School, Kings Oak Primary Learning Centre, Royston St John Baptist CE VA Primary School, St Mary’s C.E Primary School, West Meadows Primary School, Worsbrough Common Primary School and Upperwood Academy came along to share some of the brilliant artwork they’d created.
Through Arts Award Explore, children gain an entry level qualification in the arts, along with so many other valuable skills along the way, skills that are needed to thrive in the 21st Century World.
This year’s Festival of Joy (June-December 2024), is delivered by Fusion, Barnsley’s Cultural Education Partnership, in conjunction with Barnsley Children’s Services and it will be co-produced by young people. The festival will shine a spotlight on the fantastic events and initiatives being delivered by Fusion partners across the borough which showcase the artistic talents of our children and young people and promote the value of arts, culture and creativity.
