Experience Barnsley a better place to play thanks to Tesco Stronger Starts

If you are visiting Experience Barnsley with your children, you may notice a whole new range of toys to entertain them, thanks to a recent grant from Tesco Stronger Starts. 

Tesco supports thousands of local community projects and good causes across the UK, and the Stronger Starts programme focusses on supporting children and families.  Three projects from each area are shortlisted to go to public vote, and thanks to the support of local shoppers, we won the vote and received the maximum award of £1,500. 

The funding has been used to buy toys and costumes designed to encourage families with young children to visit Experience Barnsley and enjoy imaginative play. 

The grant was especially timely as the museum has been able to incorporate many of these new purchases into the new exhibition, Stories of Childhood. 

The grant has also meant that they were able to update the sensory toy provision for use by local community groups and visitors to the museum.
