7th April 2016
Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust are proud to announce Barnsley College as the first founding Joseph Locke partner.
The launch of the Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust took place in February and since then the Trust has gathered pace and received great support from the general public.
The Trust was established as a fundraising body for Barnsley Museums. The main objective of the organisation is to raise money to support the service.
Josie Thirkell, Chair of Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust said: “I am both delighted and confident that the first founding Joseph Locke partner Barnsley College will lead the way in the growth of philanthropic Partnerships in Barnsley. One of the key aims of the Trust is to support and promote education for the public benefit by helping to encourage students and their families and the wider public to participate and engage with museums and our heritage. I hope that this partnership will establish new and innovative ways of working together that will impact on the already excellent museums service we have.”
Barnsley College Chief Executive and Principal, Christopher Webb, said: “I feel this will be a great partnership for Barnsley College. The college has a significant history within the town and we are proud of the contribution so many of our students past and present have made towards making Barnsley such a fantastic place. We are delighted to be supporting the trust and playing an important role in protecting Barnsley’s superb heritage.”
