Wee Beasties of Barnsley visit Cudworth Park

11th September 2025

Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust are very proud supporters of Fusion, Barnsley’s Local Cultural Education Partnership.

As part of their work, Fusion has been collaborating with Wombwell Park Primary School on the Wee Beasties of Barnsley project. Pupils have been creating their own wee beasties and the stories behind them.

A phenomenal day on Sunday 7 September in Cudworth Park saw a host of talented performers for The Big Reveal’s world premiere of the Wee Beasties of Barnsley and the Wind of Change performed by the incredible Barnsley Metropolitan Band.

Huge thanks go to Heatergarth School choir, the children of Wombwell Park Street Primary School and The Ellis Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School, Sue Walpole, Barnsley Arts & Events and Michael Hardy from Barnsley Museums for making this such a fabulous occasion. It was amazing to see The Eldon Beast and her wee beasties soaring over the skies of Cudworth!

The Wee Barnsley Beasties and The Wind of Change were beautifully animated with three songs written especially for the show that aim to tackle the anxiety children may feel from moving from Y6 to Y7. There is also a choose your own adventure game featuring ten Eldon Beast which you can play on YouTube
