The Transformation of the Cooper Gallery

4th February 2020

The support of BMHT supporters along with funding from Arts Council has enabled the very successful transformation of the Cooper Gallery over the last three years.

The empty cottage at the rear of the gallery has been converted into artist studio space, which is now home to three artists in residence, with brand new tearooms attached where visitors can view and buy local artwork. The outdoor space has also been updated to allow for digital artforms.

The aim of these renovations is to increase participation in culture in the heart of our town, provide essential support to local artists and makers and grow the vibrant creative sector in Barnsley.

The tearooms are now open to the public, and we encourage you to pop along to view the artwork while enjoying a delicious bite.
