Mother’s Day will soon be upon us, and if you are looking for a gift with a difference, why not either visit one of the museum shops or buy a heritage experience?
There are fantastic shops at the Cooper Gallery, Experience Barnsley, Worsbrough Mill, Cannon Hall and Elsecar Heritage Centre with wonderful places to eat on site should you want to make a day of it.
Made in Yorkshire at the Cooper Gallery is a one-stop shop for locally made, ethically produced and unique items made in Yorkshire.
They champion over 40 local makers, selling everything from fine jewellery to prints, cards, glassware, ceramics and much, much more. Visit the gallery shop to explore artisan craft and design, support local makers and discover the perfect gift.
The Made in Yorkshire shop features a range of changing exhibition stock and artist materials throughout the year and makes it easy for you to find beautiful gifts, handmade with love in Yorkshire.

Mother’s Day Bouquet Workshop
18th March 2023
2pm – 4pm
Create a floral masterpiece for your mum this Mother’s Day in the beautiful ballroom at Cannon Hall or treat her to our workshop creating a floral bouquet in a gift box.
The workshop is led by one of our experienced, on-site florists, all materials are provided, and you get to leave with beautiful Mother’s Day boxed bouquet.
Silversmith Workshop
23rd March 2023
10am – 2.30pm
During this introductory workshop you will use traditional silversmithing techniques to create a set of 3 sterling silver stacking rings. You will learn how to size, cut, form/shape, texture, solder, file and polish sterling silver to create your own jewellery to take home.
No experience is necessary, and all the tools, safety equipment and materials you need to complete the project are provided.
A limited number of spaces will be available so you will be assured of plenty of personal guidance throughout the making process.
If you need glasses for reading, please bring these with you on the day and a good level of dexterity is helpful for handling small items and tools.
Please ensure you wear suitable clothing e.g., no floaty sleeves, scarves etc. Shoes must be closed toes only and long hair should be tied back.
Student must be a minimum of 18 years old unless accompanied by a responsible adult.

Terrarium workshop

10am – 11:30am
Join our horticultural expert for a green fingered morning building your own terrarium in the North Range within the walled garden.
Terrariums are great for small spaces using the smallest of plants to create a mini jungle or desert. Under the expert guidance of Jo from the Potting Shed Florists you will be shown and guided how to create your own Terrarium.
All materials are included.
Exploring Reflections: A monotype & painting workshop with artist Lucy Pimpernel Wood

Take a deeper look into the Landscape! exhibition at Cannon Hall with artist Lucy Pimpernel Wood. Explore her artworks and be inspired to make your own response to the stunning landscape of this beloved heritage site.
Join Lucy to explore the Fairyland and Walled Garden through sketchbook experiments, monotype printing and watercolour, gouache painting.
£75 per participant. All materials & refreshments provided, but please bring your own lunch.
Small Worlds: A textile workshop with artist Nikki Parmenter

Take a deeper look into the Landscape! exhibition at Cannon Hall with artist Nikki Parmenter to explore her artworks and be inspired to make your own response to the stunning landscape of this beloved heritage site.
Join Nikki to create a beautiful circular mixed media piece incorporating fused fabric, hand stitching, embellishments, colourful sheer fabrics and funky foam.

More than a Walk in the Park: A drawing & painting workshop with artist Philippa Ashworth

Join Philippa to capture your surroundings through photography and mark making, with inks, crayons, pastels and watercolour, acrylic, gouache paints.
