Barnsley Museums at The Glass Works
12th January 2022
Over the last six months, during a programme that would normally have been as much as three times longer, the Barnsley Museums team, with the support of colleagues across Barnsley Council, were able to develop, design, create the content for and delivery three high-quality galleries within The Glass Works.
There are three wonderful galleries to visit:
BM: Discover is a showcase of places to go, things to do and activities and organisations to get involved in, with an emphasis on culture, heritage, innovation, volunteering and learning.
BM: Digital isa space that introduces visitors to digital experiences, technology and representations of Barnsley
BM: Gallery is a place for changing exhibitions and activity, which has begun with a major exhibition inspired by Barnsley’s response to the COVID pandemic, created with local artists Patrick Murphy and James Brunt.
Visitors have already left such positive feedback:
‘Can we come back tomorrow too?
‘We’ve not got anything like this in our town.’
‘You’ve really done Barnsley proud. This is amazing.’
‘My kids loved it. It’s just wow.’
‘Very good. Very moving.’ (BM:Gallery)
If you are in the glassworks shopping, why not call in and see what the galleries have to offer? Or make a day of it and also take in Experience Barnsley and The Cooper Gallery. We don’t think you will be disappointed.
