Emergency Funding Secured

10th August 2020

BMHT has been successful in securing emergency funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. We applied for the funding to help support the increasing number of smaller heritage organisations across the borough, that have approached us for advice and guidance on maintaining and supporting their heritage site, as well as their organisation/group through this uncertain period.

It is essential that the heritage of Barnsley is safeguarded and continues to be enjoyed by future generations, by offering Covid19 related advice, information, guidance, workshops, and tools that these organisations can practically use within their groups and heritage sites. This project will specifically target Covid19 issues and challenges over a four-month period between July 2020 and October 2020 and involve collaboration with a number of organisations within our network to maximise the range of support offered.

We are pleased to announce that we have awarded Discover Dearne, the legacy project of the Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership, the contract to deliver this 4 month project to help heritage groups recover from the crisis.

The project will provide funding to purchase signage and equipment to allow heritage groups and sites to open up safely to the public.  They are also offering online help such as webinars and workshops, as well as sending out regular newsletters with the most up to date information available regarding funding and support.

If you would like more information on this project email the team at  discoverdearne@barnsley.gov.uk  or follow them  on Facebook  (discoverdearne) and Twitter (@DiscoverDearne)
