Eldon Street High Street Action Zone

Over the next few months, the Eldon Street HSHAZ has some brilliant community events coming up inspired by the historic buildings, colourful characters and surprising stories of this very special street. 

Meet us down on Eldon Street for the Bright Nights Parade at 6pm on Saturday, 25 November and behold the Eldon Beast – a giant, illuminated puppet created by Trinity Academy St Edward’s students. The curious beast will be joined by students from Trinity as well as Milefield Primary School, along with some of Eldon Street’s historic buildings magically brought to life for one night only in very special costumes created by the students. 

Around 60 pupils have been working with creative practitioners Amazelab and artist Sue Walpole of Handmade Parade to create a range of illuminated costumes that will light the way for the Eldon Beast as it roams through the streets as part of Bright Nights. Barnsley Un-Naturalists will return for a festive performance of their 12 Tricks of Christmas in December – in various locations around Eldon Steet and the Victorian Arcade. Combining street theatre, magic and music in Barnsley town centre. Be wowed by one of the 12 tricks of Christmas and join in with some festive carol singing.
