The exhibition displays objects and stories never before shown, from beautiful jewellery, pieces of royal costume, unique artwork, rare coins, glassware, and pottery. The exhibition has been designed and guest curated by Professor Joann Fletcher. Joann is a BAFTA winning Egyptologist from Barnsley and is also a patron of Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust.

Last week, Barnsley Museums & Heritage Trust got a sneak preview of Cleopatra and the Queens of Egypt before it opened to the public. The exhibition is truly impressive, bringing together fascinating stories, remarkable objects, and beautifully presented displays that explore the lives and legacies of Egypt’s most powerful queens.
We were blown away by the detail and atmosphere of the exhibition, which offers a captivating insight into Cleopatra and the extraordinary women who shaped ancient Egypt. It’s a must-see, and we’re excited for everyone to experience it now that the exhibition is open.
