Barnsley Museums Win Prestigious Digital Award
6th July 2021
Barnsley Museums have been voted highly commended in the Museums and Heritage Awards 2021 in the category, Best Use of Digital.
The Museums were delighted to be recognised for their outstanding digital output which they shared with audiences throughout the pandemic. When the doors to their inside spaces closed in March 2020, they quickly turned their physical programme into a creative and engaging digital one. They were determined to offer ways for people to connect with Barnsley’s history, collections and stories from the comfort of their home.
Activities included: interactive games, virtual tours, immersive experiences, digital concerts, wellbeing videos plus much more.
Barnsley Museums were highly commended in the category alongside the National Gallery of Scotland with the National Portrait Gallery being the overall winner.
Congratulations to all at Barnsley Museums who we know worked very hard to receive this well-deserved commendation.
