Barnsley Museums Distribute Wreaths To Local Communities

12th December 2023

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who took part in a Christmas wreath-making session at Worsbrough Mill & Country Park earlier this month. Under the expert guidance of The Potting Shed Florists from Cannon Hall, volunteers created beautiful wreaths using lots of natural materials, and these have now been donated to organisations across Barnsley to spread a little festive cheer.

Organisations have included, Dove Adolescent Services, Barnsley Hospice, Dove Valley Medical Practise (Worsbrough Site), Chilypep and Elsecar Holy Trinity Church who really appreciated the thoughtful gesture and the beautiful wreaths created by the volunteers, which will be displayed throughout the festive season.

This was made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.

Councillor Robin Franklin, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said:

The work of Barnsley Museums volunteers is hugely important to our heritage sites, and also our local communities. Acts of kindness like these bring people together and make Barnsley such a special place to live and work. We would like to thank all the volunteers who participated in this event and to The Potting Shed Florists for their expertise and guidance making it such a special project, spreading festive cheer.”
