Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust (BMHT) meets the Wee Beasties of Barnsley
18th August 2025
Recently Fusion was delighted to welcome Gillian from BMHT, along with colleagues from Arts Council England and the Audience Agency, to a beastly celebration at Wombwell Park St Primary School to meet the Wee Beasties of Wombwell.
The beasties are the culmination of the second artist residency of Fusion’s Artsmark Action Research Project which has seen a brilliantly creative collaboration between the Fusion, the teachers and Year 6 pupils of two schools (Wombwell Park St Primary School and The Ellis C of E Primary school), artists Sue Walpole and Martin Riley and evaluator Jo Stockdale to support social emotional mental health needs at Year 6 as pupils face transition to secondary school.
A special exhibition of the children’s work will be on display at the World Premiere of The Wee Beasties of Barnsley and the Wind of Change – along with music, songs and puppetry in an open-air community event for children and families at Cudworth Park on Sunday September 7th from 3.00pm-4.00pm. All are welcome!
