‘Barnsley Heritage Connects’ project receives funding
10th April 2019
We are excited to announce that we have received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £9,900 for our Barnsley Heritage Connects project. Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project will bring together and strengthen the vibrant, diverse and proud independent heritage organisations in Barnsley through the creation of a forum.
The Barnsley Heritage Connects forum will provide advice and support to many independent heritage organisations in Barnsley ranging from community museums, to industrial sites, history groups and heritage authors. It will offer an opportunity for them to come together to share their knowledge, learn from others and coordinate and strengthen the community heritage opportunities available for the people of Barnsley.
The initial focus will be the development of the Barnsley Heritage Fair. This will be a showcase of work from grass roots heritage organisations in Barnsley to their local communities to engage with and learn about their heritage.
Barnsley Heritage Connects will unite the heritage community in Barnsley, facilitating the sharing of experiences, learning, expertise, heritage knowledge and opportunities for engagement with each other, their members and the wider community.
Paul Jagger, Chairman of Barnsley Museums and Heritage trust said: “We are delighted to have received this support thanks to National Lottery players and we look forward to offering opportunities for Barnsley’s heritage organisations and their local communities.” Paul Jagger, Chairman
