A Night To Remember For Barnsley Schools

7th July 2023

Fusion Art Awards Explore Celebration Event

Children, families, teachers and a host of very special guests joined Fusion, Barnsley’s Cultural Education Partnership, at Horizon College recently for an inspiring evening to celebrate the artistic talents and achievements of Barnsley’s children and young people.

As part of Fusion’s Arts Award Ambassadors Explore Programme, over 200 children from 6 Primary schools have worked towards the Arts Award Explore qualification, building their artistic knowledge, creativity and confidence along the way.

With performances from Horizon dance group’s Street Kingz, the Celebration Event brought the schools together to share their hard work with a very appreciative audience including the Mayor Of Barnsley, Cllr James Michael Stowe, local councillors, BMHT Trustees and Dan Jarvis MP. As well as the opportunity to see an exhibition of artwork created by the children, the evening was a chance to acknowledge Fusion’s funders, which includes BMHT.

The event was part of Fusion’s Festival of Joy (5th June – 21st July), which aims to showcase the artistic talents and creative achievements of Barnsley’s children and young people, as well as promoting the value of arts, culture and creativity.Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust is delighted to support such a wonderful project.
