Dearne Young Producers Shine at Ambition Arena 

We’re so thrilled to announce that the Dearne Young Producers did us all proud at Friday’s Ambition Arena, resulting in the dragons investing £2.7k in the young people’s proposal to expand the Game on Barnsley e-gaming tournaments across the borough this summer. It was a brilliant night with the “dragons” choosing to invest in the Game on Barnsley pitch for an e-gaming tournament & digital skills share. 

Everyone is very proud of all the young people who worked so hard to develop the pitch and, in some cases, really stepped outside of their comfort zone. The Dragons were very impressed by the professionalism of the young people and recognised the strong connection of their proposal to Tech Town. There will be an educational element to the tournament giving young participants a chance to develop skills in game design as well as the chance to meet professionals in the local digital sector. 

Massive well done everyone & huge thanks to Jack Riley and Sara Mair for supporting the young people, scholars & staff at Astrea Academy Dearne for enabling the project, Storying Barnsley CDF and the Towns Fund for funding the work with the young people, and Barnsley CVS & Barnsley Council for this incredible opportunity as part of #GreatChildhoodsAmbition. 

Jack Riley and Sara Mair will continue to support the young people to deliver this brilliant opportunity resulting from the Towns Fund and CDF funded Dearne Youth Legacy project and connections made through the Secondary Arts Network with Barnsley Schools Alliance.
