With Christmas just around the corner, there’s still plenty of festive fun to enjoy at Barnsley Museums. From seasonal markets to traditional celebrations and classic Christmas storytelling, the weeks leading up to Christmas offer lots of chances to get into the festive spirit.  

A Cannon Hall Christmas 

See the house beautifully decorated for the festive season and enjoy the Christmas Carols playing in the ballroom as you admire the impressive tree which is taller than the minstrel’s gallery! There is no charge to visit the museum, and you will find opening times at  Visit | Cannon Hall 

Cannon Hall Christmas Market 

Set in the beautiful grounds of Cannon Hall, this Christmas Market on 14th December brings together a range of local makers, food stalls and festive treats. It’s a great opportunity to pick up unique Christmas gifts while enjoying a relaxed, festive atmosphere at one of Barnsley’s most-loved heritage sites. 

A Very Victorian Christmas 

Step back in time at Cannon Hall with a Victorian-inspired Christmas experience. Families can enjoy traditional toys, festive storytelling and a special visit from Father Christmas, all set against the historic backdrop of the hall on 13th/14th and 20th/ 21st December. Elsecar Festive Trail 

Elsecar Heritage Centre have lost Santa’s address and need your help to find it. Pick up a brand-new free festive trail from the Visitor Centre and follow it around the illuminated Christmas decorations across the site. Once you’ve completed the trail, return it to the Visitor Centre’s special festive post box – and don’t forget to include your very own letter to Santa. This trail is running every day until Christmas Eve during Visitor Centre opening hours!
