Barnsley Museums Summer Holiday Workshops 2025
17th July 2025
This summer, from 22 July to 1 September 2025, Barnsley Museums is full of fun activities for families. Across five museum sites, you’ll find exciting trails, creative workshops, and sensory sessions perfect for kids of all ages.
At Worsbrough Mill, there are three self-led trails running all summer. You can spot playful Sprites inside the mill or search for eight harvest mice hidden around the yard, each with its own fun fact. There’s also a sensory trail that lets you explore the country park through touch, smell, sound, taste, and sight. On 1 August, little ones under five can join a nature-themed craft session called Teeny Time Travellers on Tour. On 7th August, there’s a free drop-in session called Wild at Worsbrough with nature-inspired crafts for all ages.
Over at Cannon Hall Museum, you can take part in two self-led trails all holiday. Try Crazy Crockery Bingo inspired by quirky artworks, or find felt mice in the Mouse Trail and win a sticker. On 8th August, kids aged 7 and up can make clay portraits of family, friends, or pets in the Make Your Family workshop. The Teeny Time Travellers return on 15th August with a garden-themed craft session for under fives.
Experience Barnsley kicks off the holidays with Toys, Toys, Toys on 25th July – a free session where kids explore old toys and make their own. On 5th August, families with children who are autistic, neurodiverse, or have learning disabilities can attend SENsational, a calm sensory session. On 22nd August, get ready for a Sports Day outdoors with sack races and egg-and-spoon contests. Then on 26th August, Brilliant Board Games lets families create and take home their own board games.
