A Great Year For Barnsley Museums Learning Team

The Learning Team at Barnsley Museums has a great deal to celebrate this year having accomplished so much including being the recipients of a coveted Sandford Award. 

 Formal Learning and Access Officer, Ally Beckett and Learning Manager,  Jude Holland were presented with the Sandford Award for Excellence in Heritage Education for Worsbrough Mill and Country Park at a Ceremony at Hampton Court Palace on 6 November. The presentation was made by author, historian and Curator of Historic Royal Palaces Tracy Borman. 

Other achievements throughout the year include the delivery of 136 workshops, 1013 pupils engaged via outreach, virtual sessions and loan boxes and the development of 2 new self-led trails.

Much of this work was made possible with the support of the Foyle Foundation who generously funded the Outside the Box project, the aim of which was to create enjoyable, lifelong learning programmes which bring people together, support educational attainment, skills and routes to employment.
